This engaging session will provide you with high-impact tools and ideas for creating really good rubrics – high-quality rubrics. If you run to Rubistar to get the rubrics you need, then we need to talk. If you download rubrics from the Internet and use them, then we need to talk. If you’re using rubrics that come with your textbook series, then we need to talk. Come for an enjoyable day of learning and working – with your curriculum and 21st Century skills. Learning Targets • Identify key
terms related to performance-based assessments and 21st Century Skills. Workshop Materials • Book,
Designing and Using High-Quality Rubrics by Deborah Wahlstrom. (This
will be provided as part of your workshop registration fee.) Get the Most from the Day’s Training • Bring a rubric
or two that you’d like to work on during the training program.
Practical Strategies Maximizing Student Achievement
in Math The workshop is structured to appeal to teachers from Grades 3 through Algebra 2. It will focus on effective strategies to use between now and SOL testing to increase student engagement and understanding (rather than memorization.) Examples that model the strategies will come from a variety of grade-levels.
