Student Engagement with Web 2.0 Technologies w/Chris O'Neal
This hands-on session will utilize web 2.0 tools to raise the level of engagement for all K-12 students. Technology and Internet tools have become easier and more flexible than ever. Teachers in all grade levels can find free and exciting sites and software to help engage learners at all levels. We will explore digital storytelling tools, collaboration and communication utilities, and strategies for managing your digital life! (Bring a charged wireless laptop for this session!)
Give Them Their 80: Shifting Students from Passive to Active in K-12 Classrooms w/Ron Nash
Join Ron Nash as he models strategies that will engage students and reinforce the role of teachers as facilitators of process. In today's globally interconnected world, businesses need employees who can communicate confidently, collaborate effectively, and think critically in order to solve the problems of tomorrow. During this highly interactive session, Ron will model pair share, paired verbal fluency, question/clarify/question, priming, and other strategies that will involve students as active participants in their own learning. This workshop is open to all K-12 teachers and administrators, and will provide practical ways to shift the workload from teachers to students. Lace up your sneakers, grab a pen, and get ready to move, pair, share, laugh, rock…and learn.
